Apple low ball offer for ICT5

Had an on-site and it went well and got a yes.

Recruiter asked for numbers and I gave her numbers slightly higher than what I wanted. They came back with a really low ball offer, and now I countered to half way between mine and theirs.

Recruiter said they probably cannot even meet in the middle. Is this normal MO for apple? Any advice on how to proceed?

Thanks.

But in general, unless you have a strong counter offer, Apple doesn’t budge. Although I wouldn’t assume it would be problematic for ICT5!

Not yet, the recruiter said they’re working on the numbers.

No, a single round with positive results back pretty quickly.

If it was only 1 round, then it was probably just a 4 to begin and recruiter was bs-ing with you. Usually 5 would involve two rounds.

Only other possibility is the first round didn't go week enough to justify doing another round for onsite so just downleveled you.

I believe I did well on the interviews, so more likely it was an ict4 to begin with. Thanks for the feedback.

18 yoe. I asked for 625 and they countered with 375. So I buckled and said I’ll sign at 500. The role is for an architect, data ops in IS&S supporting big data technologies.
