Apple or Microsoft (hardware)?
I have two offers - Microsoft (Xbox team) and Apple (design verification). I’m trying to decide between the two. Both are very different HW roles though - at Apple it’s a traditional DV role at an ASIC team, at Microsoft it’s with a product/client facing team that requires hardware expertise. WLB, mobility within the company, and working in a non-political environment matter to me just as much as benefits and TC. 4 yoe Apple (Austin) Base ~120k , 75k stock Microsoft (Bay) base ~150k , 100k stock Any insights / suggestions will be of great help. Apple. Because Apple and more so because Austin
Expect shitty wlb at Apple. I would choose Microsoft over Apple in general but also depends on roles, TC, location etc.

Not true. Apple in last two years hired lot more employees and wlb much better. I have been at Apple since last 7 years and wlb getting much better.

Apple coz of TC/Cost of living in Austin and also coz its a HW company. People complain abt WLB, at the end it’s about you and how you manage it. No one will ask/expect you to work 12hrs everyday

Apple. Based on numbers almost jumped on msft. But like others have pointed, if you factor in location, then Apple hands down. Bay is too costly for that TC
