Is it just me or does it seem like there are a lot of jerks at Amazon. Started a while ago and seems like a lot of people have egos around here. No one is really friendly or helpful and i dont think i could hang with anyone like this outside if work.
The “Disagree” LP is taken to the max by a lot of folks I work with. It’s part of the culture.
but then how are people doing any work?
The only thing that is respected is the heirarchy. So if someone stubbornly disagrees with you, the only way to get it resolved is to escalate it to your manager. It’s a tiring process and I hate it.
So are you a jerk too?
Takes one to know one.
They are called "amholes" for a reason I assume? Obviously cannot be true of all or even most though.
Certainly not all. But definitely a big percentage compared to other companies.
So what percentage?
How did you get past the behavorial/LP interviews if you didn't know the culture is more IC than teamwork based? If you ask people questions, you better have exhausted all your own resources and research first before asking others.
Do u work at amazon? LP interview was bs. No way from the interview could I tell the culture of amazon. Only thru blind I found out
Did you sleep through LP interviews? It's clear that IC is culture. Literally nowhere in the LP has team work.
Hard to generalize a 50k population
The politics and culture makes one jerk. I have seen people lying to their teeth just to save their asses
I think Amazon peers are just Cut throat. And honest. In that order, so before the feedback they'll run you under the bus. Guilty, 7years now.
Sorry you found out so late. But ... you are just scratching the surface.
I don’t think people are born jerks. It’s the culture that makes people become jerk. The pressure and the constant fear of being PIP.
