Are ICE raids constitutional?

Jul 11 87 Comments

Do they not go against 4th amendment? Or do the agents get a warrant for every person they check?

When I think of enjoying intelligent public policy discussion, a bunch of software engineers on Blind is not typically at the top of my list.

Well, trumps new executive order should provide the first official count of how many illegal aliens are in the country. Brilliant move this going to blow a lot of peoples minds and permanently move public opinion on the topic

😂 akkkk://www... you are funny. How to spin a tail-between-legs back off into a “brilliant move”.
That said, nefarious Barr and the other cronies will keep seeing Donnie FatNixon as an instrument to enshrine their oligarchy.

Can’t wait to vote those traitors out...

Well at least you’re respecting democracy, which is more than you can say about the establishment dems that illegally exercise the powers of the state against them.

Apparently the tactic went over your head, the census question debate was just Trump trolling. Now it’s expose that are politicize courts are blocking an incredibly common sense request that’s been in every census us up through Obama’s in 2010. The fact is his executive order will update the census with modern more accurate methods. So it’s a double win

You really are a piece of work.

The Census Bureau hasn’t included a citizenship question in its once-a-decade survey sent to all U.S. households since 1950, before the Civil Rights era and passage of a 1965 law designed to help ensure minority groups in the count are fully represented. Obama was -11 in 1950. I am sure Obama did a lot of things when he was 11yo but I doubt he had anything to do with the removal of a census question.

      😂

Haha, ICE is part of the DHS system. They have no knock warrants in hand at the time they do raids. They can detain anyone and ask for identification. Keep in mind constitutional protections only apply to US citizens.

I mean you are wrong @facebook, fourteenth amendment literally defines citizens and makes a distinction between citizens and “person”

You have no understanding of the 14th Amendment. Thank dear baby Jesus that you are not a lawyer and your opinion does not count for anything.

Jesus Christ you’re daft, the majority of the constitution applies to everyone, but there are certain portions that apply to only citizens, it’s literally in the article you linked you moron.
      Jul 12
    • Facebook sdfdcgdsh
Amazon you are a certified moron. If you read further you’ll see that the 14th amendment protects against exactly those kinds of things. I’m done with your profound ignorance.
      Jul 12
    • Amazon TRuc81
So you are saying EVERY right protected in the constitution is allotted to EVERYONE in the United States - including the right to vote and run for president? I understand the 14th amendment treats everyone equally under law but your English comprehension seems to be lacking

How did we get to this point where you have to ask a question like that. Yes it’s constitutional to enforce laws. It’s required by the constitution actually

The courts have a literally ordered them to leave. And issued warrants for their deportation. I don’t know how more straightforward you can get

So many peoples world views been so skewed by this leftist media narrative that is taken over the last few years. It’s sad, and it’s exposing the lack of real critical thinking skills. We used to celebrate rebels, now we celebrate sheep

No. Treat this case as if it was police interrogating you:

      - do not answer questions
      - repeat « am I being detained? Am I free to go?
      - as long as they don t say that you are being detained arrested, keep asking the same questions
      - if arrested, do not speak; ask for uour lawyer

Get informed and prepared. Get advice from non profits such as ACLU etc.

I would argue that making it illegal to live in the country is unconstitutional though. I think everyone has a constitutional right to immigrate to the USA

Y'all are crazy. The raids are on people who have literally had a judgement ruled in court by a judge. try and overstay a Visa in Europe and see what happens

  • Netflix mr.clippy
What I’m puzzled about is why Trump is broadcasting the raids before they happen? It takes away the element of surprise, which is the whole point of a raid. It puts ICE agents in danger. It jeopardizes operational security and success.

Is this guy really this dumb?
    Jul 12 9
    • Lyft done2
Bingo. Trumps trolling is no joke, it’s a political WMD.

I think bc then on the campaign trail he can point to hysteria of some on the left for following up on court orders from judges. It won't look good for them on a "rule of law" or immigration perspective. But yea totally theater as the others said
      Jul 12
    • Netflix mr.clippy
Yeah. I’m pretty disappointed by the narrative. I also think the media is to blame as well. They fall for Trumps tricks all the time and they want political upheaval, so they will find anyone to speak out against Trump for ratings. Sadly they can find talking heads easily.

@done2 it is a racist laws. There is no way to have a law that treats people differently based on where they were born without being racist aka discriminatory. Whatever happened to making laws based on the character of the person rather than where they were born?

You seem to believe that there’s some global order to enforce a claim like that. Any notion of human rights exist solely because of the sovereignty of nations in the social contract between those states and their citizens. Anything else is in a hallucination on your part

Yes, the raids are constitutional and necessary. The people being deported are in the country illegally, have been ordered to leave after due process, and in some cases even have criminal records. Why should they stay? Convince us.
    Jul 11 2
    • Amazon TRuc81
Do they have warrants? That’s the constitutional issue, they can’t just pick them up on the street and check later
      Jul 11
    • Flowcast lulll
Yes they have warrants. Its not hard to get when the same people have been asked to leave repeatedly

The constitution needs like 50 amendments before we should consider it any good. Like the law, it’s only as just as the people who write it
