Hey folks, soon-to-be new grad. Are there any companies that 'hurt' the resume ? For multiple reasons, could be shitty product, having issues with other top tiers, etc. Recruiters, what's your take on this? Edit: guys please explain, don't throw names. TC: N/A

Acme, their products are really defective

Palantir
Why?
Because you will inevitably run into the combination of someone who keeps up on news and is firmly against the kind of work Palantir does. While I understand that it's not necessarily fair to judge someone based on these kinds of factors, you will inevitably plant a seed in your interviewer's head when a name like the shows up on your resume.
For design: academy of art. If you’re a professor/designer there I’m going to question your morality since it’s a very sketchy for profit school that puts a lot of students in a mountain of debt and doesn’t prepare them well. If you’re a grad I’m going to be wary of you because they don’t prepare students well. However if you have a killer portfolio I don’t care if you graduated from there. I once did a portfolio review session for some soon to be new grads and it was sad how unprepared and awful a lot of their portfolios were. (With that being said University of Phoenix, ITT Tech and other for profit schools might also fit the list for other industries.)
