It looks like no one understand WHAT and HOW it should be implemented. Engineers are blocked and mislead by Legal and Privacy teams. I'm a simple engineer. "Clarifications" from our Legal team surprise and scary me. Following their guidance we might build a huge HOLE that can be misused in so many horrible ways that Equifax breach would seem like a child's prank š± So, what about your company?
California Consumer Privacy Act - https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/California_Consumer_Privacy_Act From the same article: The intentions of the Act are to provide California residents with the right to: Know what personal data is being collected about them. Know whether their personal data is sold or disclosed and to whom. Say no to the sale of personal data. Access their personal data. Request a business delete any personal information about a consumer collected from that consumer. Not be discriminated against for exercising their privacy rights.
California communist party association. Duh
Seriously, how would that be comparable to some huge hole or Equifax breach? There is no concept call āsimple engineerā but there is something call ignorant or someone who knows just halfway but jumping around like knows everything š¤¦āāļø
We are going to expose a lot of personal details AND a lot of details about internal stuff. Legal said that we cannot give customers just IDs - we need to "resolve" these IDs to "human meaningful" names. Let's take a transaction in some internal transaction system. Each record has a lot of references to other datasets. E.g. "item_id" is a just a FK that points to another "table" ("items") that the item is described. At the same time, the "items" table is also has FK e.g. "department_id". Where are we going to stop?
It's 2023 and I wonder if Blind is ready for it; I couldn't find any forms to submit CCPA requests on TeamBlind.com website.
