People here seem to be obsessed with Japanese cars (Honda/Toyota). With 300k+ TC why not pick a luxury car with great performance and driving experience? It costs half of your yearly take home TC and could last for years. TC: 220k
Why do you need performance when everyone is just stuck in traffic everyday?
Weekends and Skyline Blvd
Apart from work there are days to enjoy life
Get it.
A lot of people in the Bay Area don’t drive that much. I think that’s why so many people get moderate cars. TC is mostly irrelevant here. Some people making $120k can afford it and some people making $500k cant afford it.
If you can't afford it with 500k TC then you have big management problem... Now can afford it and should buy it is two different things...
Get one cpo for half the price
This should be “net-worth” not “TC”
Buy used and tack on an extended warranty. Be a baller on a budget. The depreciation curve on an A8 is eye watering, if you're the first owner.
If you're looking for justification to buy an A8, you won't find any good ones. People buy luxury cars because they *want* a luxury car, not because it makes sense. BTW, you can replace "luxury car" with "boat", "time share", "avocado toast", etc.
It’s a terrible investment. Why not drive a Honda and retire 5 years earlier?
Why not drive an R8 AND also retire 5 years earlier.
Not all the people’s goal is retiring early. Most of people want to enjoy when they are young.
I’d much rather go for the R8 even though it costs a little extra.
Maintenance
Roselli in san hoe is your answer to affordable super car maintenance.
These cars usually have 4-5 yrs warranty. I guess maintenance will be pretty much affordable when you have warranty?
