At what level do you consider someone to be an Executive? Not all companies have the same levels structure, but generally I'm using: Manager denotes having direct reports Director indicates having direct reports who are managers themselves. VP: run an entire group or division. E/S VP: run an entire business unit C-level: report to the CEO
You mean like for a startup? At big companies you can have layers of managers and not be a director.
Depends on the scale. If FAANG you could say directors are executives and actually other titles like head of people, lead of special projects. But if you have 300-500 people prolly directors are not executives
VPs aren't execs unless they are EVPs or directs to the CEO. Is this a prestige question in disguise?
^This.
Executive is someone who makes decisions on the firm level. The title is irrelevant.
