I’m looking to transition from an audit role into a consulting position in the next year. I realize there are a lot of barriers to entry, however i am trying to do as many case studies as possible in the next year and have a friend who is willing to turn in my resume from consulting for EY. For anyone who has made a similar transition, can you provide any advice on what helped your transition and how I can best break into consulting. Thabks for reading!
Agree that intra transfers are very difficult. Partners have more reputation to lose if you move internally than if you leave the firm.
Im in consulting, SO is in audit at another b4. It’s HARD to switch. I’d recc building hard skills and shooting for tech consulting, maybe with a mid size (think protiviti). Otherwise - MBA.
I personally transferred from audit to consulting at Deloitte. Yes its hard to transfer but much easier than trying to get your foot in the door elsewhere (e.g., less people to vouch for you and less resources like being able to research ppl and roles in your existing company directory)
What do you do now as Consultant
Why don't you do pwc consulting ?
I’ll be trying to get into both. Just applying to multiple places. I heard internal company transfers can be difficult sometimes.
You'd need sponsorship I'd schedule a meeting with a partner. One from Audit and the other from Consulting Get a regular, and LCSP of wherever you audit on the consulting side (obviously there's no double dipping in this biz, so if there's an audit partner for coke, then you go to the consulting LCSP of Pepsi) and make the case . Once you get two partners agreeing with you , you'll be able to switch Get meetings with them
