What should someone expect from a trial at Automattic? What kind of design challenges are briefed for a senior design role?
I did a trial a few years ago for a developer role. I was given a full feature to work on end-to-end as a mostly normal employee. It was a fairly challenging problem and I think I put in 20-30 hours over a couple weeks. And was paid almost nothing. Ended up declining the offer due to some legal issues around side projects.
What's a trial? Do you get paid? Sounds terrible.
At least at the time I did it, it was the second stage of the hiring process. Work on a feature as part of the team. In theory, it is a good interview. You get to know the company and they get to know you. But, it is a huge time sync and they paid something like $15/hr. So it was kinda terrible.
It’s $25 an hour, regardless of role.
Any Design trial experiences? Or watched one?
Conviction. Then death by automattic weaponry.
Can you elaborate?
