I'm coming to Amazon with 1.5 yoe at $185k as L4 FEE (Front-End Engineer). What is the average time for a decent (not spectacular) engineer to be promoted from L4 to L5? I am aiming for about 2 years. Is that a reasonable goal? Any tips?
I would not take a L4 Amzn offer unless you are a new grad. You will not get a good L5 salary even after promotion.
What are the reasons that wouldn't let me get a good comp after the promotion? Also, no, I'm not a new grad. Actually, I'm a college dropout (Carnegie Mellon).
Well done!
External Hires come in around median to top end of the band. Internal promotion puts you at bottom of next band
How was your onsite for the FEE postion.
oh wtf. That is so much higher than mine. I got $150k TC for the same position.
Two years is totally reasonable. Be active to bring this to your manager's plate and work on his/her feedback.
