what you guys think? ML position
Is there a tc difference? Given the two I love what aws is doing but I hear they work there software engineers into the ground. Otoh reddit seems cool on the surface but I don't know anything about them.
Reddit has higher TC but same base, AMZN has more liquidity, since it is public. Reddit is pre-ipo, donāt know when they will go for ipo. They are in growth mode, they raised 300m in 2019. There is not much I will learn in AMZN, it will be continuation of my current position. Reddit is like green field, lots of low hanging fruits. It is possible to create impact there. Reddit people feels pretty cool.
So looks like you have alreadymade up your mind. Please wait, the Blind gods will concur.
Not really, these are just some thoughts. Faang looks good on resume, if you do not like a team, you can switch. The Aws position have some aspects I like that are not available with Reddit.
Donāt go to AWS for WLB. So definitely AWS.
You will definitely have more impact if you come to Reddit. Not a surprise that the blind crowd prefers AWS. But many folks at Reddit including myself came from FAANG, and few regret our decision
I recognize that it is very positive environment, everyone loves the product. Faang rules in Blind which is understandable. TBH, only 2 of them attractive to me, Amazon and Google, but never became priority. How do you see future of the company?
If the company executes well, it can have an ipo like Pinterest. Monentization is still early for Reddit, so we are taking about a few yrs out
Reddit sounds cool, more room for growth, probably better WLB.
Donāt know about AWS, the only comparison I can make is wlb which has to be better at Reddit. So far Iāve had a great time at Reddit. Company is growing fast, there are lots of interesting projects and I donāt feel like a cog in the machine. I love the product too. Money wise everything depends on whether we manage to IPO or exit, we definitely have a good shot but itās a riskier option with better upside than Amazon.
Which option seen more favorable by the management? IPO or exit through getting acquired?
At this point the goal and the business plan is for IPO. We are on track with that multi year plan for this year so far. It would take a huge offer for management to sell because they sold way too soon 10 years ago and still regret it.
What is median or average equity in different engineering levels?
What's your final choice? I am having the same offers from AWS vs Reddit now.
