@nine inch please qoute the sources that mention Ayurveda is a pseudoscience. And again since you stressed so much on 'verifiable' make sure you don't post a random link with unknown sources. It's ok to be on a different side of belief but a rebuttal without facts is what @jennyqueen called it... 'Your Opinion" and nothing else.

There is not a single double blind study proving any worth of purely ayurveda medicine. There is no evidence on existence of any of the Ayurvedic dosha based theories. doshas called Vata, Pitta and Kaph have no physical proof or demonstration. Most of the modern ayurvedic medicine that are sold in many cases have nothing to do with ayurvedic theories and they often add western medicinal components or widely known medicinal plants. Usage of heavy metals in ayurvedic practice is detrimental to health.

@jenny yes you need science to determine what is healthy. Every aspect of health can be potentially investigated by science and life science or biology is the branch that deals with it. Science is by far and large the most reliable tool to come up with any kind of verifiable truth regarding anything.

If western medicine knew everything why does it have side effects? Why cant it just cure the problem and not introduce new ones?

It doesn't know everything. Nobody claims about knowing everything. Science progresses through research and development every day. Side effects are relatively rare and can affect different people differently. It is not as big of a problem as you think. Getting rid of all possible effects of anything is challenging. And ayurveda medicines also have side effects, the mercury in it can cause slow poisons. Heck even most food items can have potential side effects on people including fatal allergies.

Yoga is beneficial physical exercise and meditation can often be helpful for relaxation.

Claiming yoga is bullshit is wrong. However those who claim yoga can cure any disease or improves immunity /prevents any sort of disease or gives you some spiritual godly experience are also full of bullshit.
      Jul 3, 2018
    • I don't think anyone claims that yoga in and of itself can do that.

Why do you believe in Ayurveda?

      OP
Western medicine always have side effects which weaken your body and subject it to serious issues. It is based on attacking the symptoms instead of the root cause. Anything suppressed by force rears its head again in the future in another, potentially more dangerous form. I dont really believe firmly in Ayurveda, but have heard people benefitted without side effects. Ayurveda is all natural medicine which does not treat the disease as an enemy, rather tries to heal the body so that the disease leave the body itself.

I’ve also heard that diseases leave the body without side effects if you pray long enough.

Ayurveda does not have anything to do with "root causes". Its based on old superstition without any evidence. Many ayurveda medicine contains mercury which is harmful. Some modern ayurveda medicines can work because it also contains traditionally known western/scientific medicine components which is no different (except less effective) than western medicine. Indian here. Please stop believing pseudosciences like homeopathy, ayurveda and astrology.

When someone tells you ayurveda "heals body" or "cures root cause" or "increases immunity" ask them how do you measure or verify any of that. Often time these claims are unverifiable and lack any kind of explanation.
