Hey guys, I got an SDE 1 offer a few days back(new grad) for the Azure Networking team at Redmond. During the interviews they told me that the team does SDN and things in the domain of distributed systems. I have 1.5 YoE in building data pipelines using hadoop and spark. Have a few questions:

1. I do not have any experience in networking. Will that be a problem?
2. Will this be a good early career move considering I want to be in the area of designing scalable systems?
3. Any thoughts about the host networking team, and the work culture?
4. How hard is it to switch teams in Azure internally?

Thanks!

    1. No. I was a civil engineer before becoming a network engineer. You just need a brain and motivation to learn which Microsoft believe you have.

Internal movement process is by design discrete to motivate talent to stay with Microsoft.
