Struggling to decide the next steps in my career path and would be very appreciative for some advice. Essentially I’m trying to decide wherther i should try to specialize as an Android Developer or if I should try move to the backend or another area. I have 1.5 YOE in android development already. Which do you guys think is better from a long term career standpoint at FANG-type companies? I enjoy mobile but i have nothing to compare it to. Mainly interviewing at FANG/large unicorns. YOE: 1.5 TC: 230k
Damn going to start quoting my yoe in tenths now
doing it in days
Do backend, I get the sense that a lot of companies aren't that invested in native iOS or android development anymore. Now it's all about stuff like using React and refactoring their monolithic codebase to services.
May be true for startups, but big companies aren’t going to turn away from native development anytime soon.
