i just completed my background check and drug testing. Like many of you, I havent done one in awhile and was wondering what it checked. Heres my results: Drug testing [LabCorp]- they urine tested for: amphetamines, heroin, marijuana, phencyclidine, methadone, propoxyphene, cocaine, opiates, benzo, methaqualone, mdma, barbituates Background check [Sterling]- they checked - Last 5 years of work history (some employers may want 7 years) including - start/end date - job title - type of employment (standard) They also check your college degree run via “National Student Clearinghouse”.. im not sure who they run through if your degree is international.. NOTE: - one of my previous job titles was actually wrong from my previous employer. my previous employer took my business card title (ie. Key Customer Success Manager) while my official title was Director of Account Management. This was strange and not sure why or how they used my business card title. Anyways, it showed a “!” next to the title field but my new employer didn’t ask me anything otherwise. - Sterling does have fields such as “is subject eligible for rehire” or “how would you rate the subjects performance”.. no previous employer gave this info as i beleive very few employers want to be held liable for slander lawsuits - A previous employer went out of business about 2 years ago so Sterling wasnt able to contact. I had to send them a paystub to verify. Im glad I still kept it. Federal and State Laws [Sterling] - they checked - SSN Trace - County Court Search (every county you worked in) - Criminal search including sex offender - National sex offender - Federal court search - extended global sanctions - managed state compliance
Thanks for the detailed report! Never heard about software companies doing drug tests, is your position unique in any way to warrant it?
This is a traditional defense company. Think boeing or Raytheon. They’re old skool. This is the first time I’ve had to do drug testing.
Wtf? Did you apply to the CIA?
Serious! It felt like it
He would have had to do a polygraph test for that
How long did it take to get your report? My check passed two weeks ago and I have yet to get a copy of it
It was fairly fast.. something like 5 business days to complete and about 10 days to get a copy of the report in my possession
Was it mailed to you or emailed?
Did you have provide all paystubs for the failed company? I am in a similar situation but I don’t have paystubs saved.. just one year w2
I only had one failed startup so I provided the W2 for that.. not sure what happens if there are multiple.
What are they looking for with SSN trace? That you're valid to work?
Not sure. I guess that it’s a legit ssn?
