Bad Interviewing Experience at Facebook.

I had a second phone screen for a Facebook L6 because the first screener wasn't able to get a great signal due to technical problems during the call. Now, if I could imagine what an ideal second phone screen might look like, the second interview screen with Facebook would describe this. I felt like our conversation was almost scripted like it was for video demonstration. At the end, the interviewer shared I did absolutely great and she hopes to see me around. After the interview, I immediately followed up with recruiter whom I excitedly shared my experience. This was on a Thursday. I hear nothing all day Friday, no response Monday, whereby I sent another follow up email also asking questions. Nothing...Tuesday going by..and finally Wednesday where I follow up again with a one liner. Almost immediately I receive an email saying the engineer leadership decided not to move forward after considering feedback from both interviews. I was just taken back. I immediately assumed I pissed the recruiter off from my emails and she threw me under the bus. Not sure why she would...but it kinda felt like that tone. In my email, I apologized if I sent her too many follow ups. I inquired very politely about any feedback at all which could be shared since my version of reality is apparently much different than what's being reported. Nothing, just radio silence. CONVERSELY, I had a google tech screen today for an L6 IC role. We had an absolutely great conversation, wrote some code. I told myself once it was finished, I wont follow up directly with any more recruiters until waiting a day or two. But, for my Google experience, the recruiter had already emailed me asking me how I felt it went! I replied back that I thought it was awesome, look forward to coming out hopefully. I get back about 5 min later asking for a quick followup in 20 minutes. In less than an hour, I found out Google is happy to move forward with me and come onsite. What an amazing and seamless process...thanks Google. TC: 175k YoE: 12 Midwest

I usually wait a week before reaching out. Recruiters can be hit or miss.

Best of luck with the G interview! Hopefully you don’t too harshly judge FB. One recruiter and two interviewers aren’t representative of the entire company. However it works out, I hope the best for you!

Google interview may have its own flaws,, but most of the recruiters and interviewers seem very decent and genuine

I have little faith in recruiters. You're king if they need you but might as well be chopped liver if not. Wouldn't attribute much of the outcome to the recruiter. Google happen to like you. Fb didn't. Whatever, they had bad signal.

Facebook recruiter pinged me about a position and haven’t heard back in 2 weeks post my response for the initial phone call.

Man you midwest people are always cranky. This stuff happens to everyone. Just that people don't cry about it.

Google recruiters seem to have a lot more time but I actually hate it. My Google recruiter keeps calling me over and over again for nothing, just casual chit chat and updates (these updates weren’t even meaningful). Even I rejected some of the calls, I ended up taking 5 calls from the Google recruiter before knowing my offer’s details. It was a horrible experience.

Are you a woman? That would explain the behaviour

Google sadnoogler Oct 18, 2019

Because male recruiters hit on women?
