I interviewed with one of the FANG. I did pretty great in the interviews. The feedback from recruiter was that I’d be leveled up and to wait a couple of days for the formal offer. Few days later the recruiter tells me that the position for which I had originally interviewed was no longer available due to budget reasons. Instead, I received an offer for a totally different team to which I’m not interedted at all. This looks like a bait and switch scheme for a position for which there are not enough interest from candidates. If the job opening was approved, I assume the budget was initially set before starting the interview process. This has been a very bitter experience so far. TC: $280k YOE: 11 Offer TC: $350k
Which FANG?
FANG are all big, can you work with the recruiter or anyone you know in the company to find another team you will be interested in?
I could but why bother. I have 2 offers from other FANGs, I’d prefer going to any of those. It’s stressful enough to prep for interviews and going through a few rounds of interviews. I don’t want to deal with added stress of looking for another team and doing any more interviews or chats with HMs.
Glad to hear you have other options and sorry your experience was shitty. Unfortunately the truth is that for most purposes we’re just replaceable cogs in the machine at these companies.
How much TC did they offer? Maybe if it’s a substantial bump it’s worth it?
updated original post. Offer TC is 350k. I have 2 other comparable offers. Will likely take one of those
Op posted 280k. Need to know YOE.

What is the point of the post? You already have competing offers with same TC. So take those and move on. Not sure what you are expecting here
wanted to see if someone experienced a similar situation.
Can’t believe people with 11 YOE can also talk like this
like what?
I feel you man. I’m sorry. I would give everyone some benefit of doubt .
They found better than you at last moment.
why would they give me the offer for another team instead of telling me that they decided to go with another candidate?
Because they still like you and think you'd be an asset to the company
