Guys which role is safer in recession? I am thinking of applying to both the companies and see what I can get? Also, is it a safe time to look for jobs? Do new hires(junior dev) more prone to getting laid off?
Got it. It's just I joined as a new grad in a new grad program so was wondering if that changes anything because I am the cheapest...
That works against you but is one of many factors. Performed, tenure are probably the two biggest factors when it comes to layoffs.
Really? I heard that new grads are important for the campus recruitment reputation? Also I thought productivity mattered the most.
In the eyes of the law it doesn’t. It’s all about avoiding/minimizing lawsuits when you’re laying people off. Performance is a big factor but not the factor. For instance If you’re a black female over 40, veteran, and disabled performance is nearly meaningless.
Oh wow. So visa and MasterCard are safer although all companies can lay people off.
Back office is first to go in a recession?
But the team saves money and customers are dependent on some of the automated tools we built
Right. You are automating yourself out of a job. You asked about recessions. Back off are out, even money savers. Revenue producers are never cut unless they’re bottom performers.
