Bay Area companies whose tech interviews are easy to crack

Hi

Please recommend some companies whose interviews are easy to crack without much preparation. I am currently working at Walmartlabs. I am having a really hard time at work. Things are not going well with my manager and everyday gets worse. I feel I am going into depression because of the toxic environment. It seems switching team is not an option anymore because of the hiring freeze. I want to change my job ASAP.

Thank you Blind community for your help and giving me perspective about my situation. Hopefully I can get out of this toxic environment ASAP and find my dream company soon.

Why are you looking for easy to crack interview places? I mean if you have an ability then I will suggest prepare well and crack interviews. If you target easy to get in company, probably you will end up in same dull incompetent environment.

    • Here looks like we have someone who makes the point why culture is so bad there by finger pointing all the blame to contractors and boasting that his team is the best. A system works well when all its parts are good and in sync.

Also, I have friends there and I exactly know what is wrong with the culture there, don't believe this person must be another big boss at SAM spreading the toxicity.

Good engineering is about ownership and execution not measuring the hiring bar.

Here we have someone who claims to know more about culture of another company because he knows someone there.
My comment is based on 1st hand experience and not "knowing exactly what's happening there because I've friends there." I've my opinions about Google but I would be stupid enough to pick a fight with you on it.

However per your comment I should of been more careful on how I word it. Our team is NOT immune to the problem I mentioned, I can see how it can be interpreted that way. We try to shield ourselves with hi hiring bar but like I mentioned we end up not hiring faster than we lose.

My comment on contractors is BYOND opinion but also through disclosure from contractors themselves. If you think a bit more, you'll realize I actually don't disagree with you. There is nothing wrong with contractors as individuals, in fact the strongest dev on my team is one, so my comment is not refrencing their skills. It's how we treat contractors that put them in positions to make knowing or even subconscious bad decisions.

I understand Google treats contractors well, so I can totally understand you are inexperience to realize issues I've observed.

I don’t think all contractors are bad as such, rather sometimes I see them doing heavy work but their full time reporting person takes due credits. Bad hiring is bad hiring, could come in any form...

Oh yeah totally! I previously heard about this, and recently observed it 1st hand, pretty sickening. Again, I blame management not contractors. Also I think H1Bs are in even worse positions. They can't even just quit if they don't agree. 1st hand disclosure from my own team.

    • Do you think it cares about employees if it can't provide parking, desks and restrooms to its employees? That aside if hiring bar is so high then why does around holidays, most likely the only opportunity Walmart has to give great experience to new customers, add to cart slows down or fails? What about the bureaucracy and political culture that people have pointed out on this thread and other blind threads? Please take these as a feedback to the management. Good to see that you acknowledge that management is at fault to some extent. No point in picking fight about facts as it won't solve parking, desks and restrooms problem there.

Square and Stripe don't need Leetcode at least, also try Microsoft hiring events.

Hiring events wont have various rounds?. How does that work?

I had a phone interview with square a few months back. The coding/algorithm question was about leetcode medium.

    • Amazon klmqos
Hiring events are usually 4 rounds of interviews with easy-medium questions, it's not about difficulty it's about the bar at hiring events being low so easy to get hired.

I screened with Square and Stripe. They're hard to pass, although the questions themselves aren't too bad. I think they just have a high bar.

I heard from a friend at Stripe that his entire team all somehow got to skip the phone screen and go directly to onsite, which makes it sound like the phone screen is extremely selective.

Can you give specific details why the things are not fine with the manager? If possible try to work around those first but considering employee concerns at WalmartLabs from recent blind posts would recommend leaving the place.

To answer your question: prepare for a month or so, then give phone screen in ascending order by TC. Then spend another month for onsites.

Yes I am trying to learn from my mistakes. I do not want to repeat them in my new company and hopefully dream company. I have tried working around the bureaucracy for more than a year but things get only worse.

I was at Walmart labs one year ago. Leetcode away. Your efforts will pay off. Keep your head high and don’t drown in that negative environment.

So easy you will be asked maybe 1/1000 questions that take 15-1 hour to solve.

Google: yes, easy to pass onsite, but it is grueling (5 rounds, 4 of which are very difficult algo) - I haven't heard of a straight rejection in literal years and basically 100% of my friends who have interviewed at Google have passed the onsite (5/5)

      Facebook is hard.

Source: interviewed at Google x1 onsite (passed), Facebook x3 screens (failed all)

Throw spaghetti at the wall. Once you get on a roll interviewing, you find that some are easy and others are hard, but all of that boils down to luck.

@jetsetgo in SV office here and I hear you. But I'm not aware of a hiring freeze, at least not in my org in Sam's. I interview candidates all the time and we can't get enough resumes.

Hiring freeze do not affect internal transfer. Also, hiring freeze is not strict anymore as new space they have got in same SV location which is supposed to be ready in a quarter.
