I'm moving out. Company is opening an office in the Midwest and offered the same TC for whoever wants to move. Soon I'll buy a 4000sq feet home for $400k and raise my kids there.

Oakland is a dump. Like 20% better than the TenderLoin. Good luck in there and don't leave valuables inside your car like the other guy yesterday.

  • I was very serious about moving away, but decided to stay and bought. It’s not easy financially to live here but I really like the area and it’s very hard to leave California once you’re used to it and lived in other parts of the country.

Damn straight. After a year in Seattle I’m heading back. Cali is the best damn place in North America even with its issues.

I’d say twice as cheap at least.
You can buy a nice home in Kirkland 98033 for about 1M, whereas a similar house would cost at least 2M in Mountain View.

That’s still ridiculously expensive for a house

Rent and brainwash yourself by saying things like how it it would be less expensive and risk free to rent for the next 5 to 7 years and then move elsewhere.

A feel of belonging and ownership. And attachment to the place you live.

I know in this materialistic world it won't matter to you, but there are a lot to whom it matters and that's Y houses sell crazy even when overpriced.

Move to Sacramento instead and work remote, you can still go to work once or twice in a week, still better than living in LA

      Feb 6
    • Udacity RkcO20
San Ramon housing is almost as expensive as peninsula vs Sac. Housing is still affordable
Plus Sac. is a very underrated (for now) decent city
