Bay area vs SoCal

120k base + 10% bonus + 65k RSU over 4 years in SoCal Vs 150k base + 10k sign on + equity (unicorn startup...so just paper money unless they IPO) in Bay Area Which would you choose if you had to? PS: Please don't say TC is low and try more LC. I did as much as I could, I interviewed at FANG and failed YOE: 2 yrs as back end dev

I would prefer SoCal offer but depends upon your situation and priorities. Which company in SoCal ?

Socal

I like socal more, and it's easier to live there making less

SoCal - less pressure. Unless you're in a slave driving company like Amazon. Plus, better weather and beaches.

SoCal sucks. Bay Area, unless u plan to stay at the same tech company for rest of your career.

What are the companies?

TC is not low for 2 yoe. Choose Bay area for future growth. LA if you’re a single guy who likes to get laid.

Salary is fine for 2 YOE. Socal is more fun but Bay is better for your career

Bay area. You will be stuck in socal and once you are not here, it’s harder to move here. You have a pretty good offer here.

Pick the unicorn startup in the Bay. Socal is not much cheaper than the Bay.

If by SoCal you mean Santa Monica or Irvine, they have more expensive rent than Fremont in Bay Area. All other expenses such as gas and insurance are the same in socal. It is the same state, it is not Texas cost of living for you So we have the same cost of living, but Bay Area already offers more money and also will provide better job opportunities in the future.
