Ask me anything.
Career advice.
Interview practice.
Anything.
Experience.
I'll answer every legit question.

Let me add more stuff. I have also been offered positions at following:
1. Uber
2. Zynga
3. Booking
4. JP Morgan
5. Goldman
6. Bloomberg

But I have passed. Yelp.

My point is that I am here to help. Do you have anxiety, not sure how to approach interviews or anything, I'll answer.

I get nothing from helping apart from some thanks.

I just started at AWS like a month ago on a the project of my dreams. Something ML related, and we get to do a bit of science (model development, optimization, etc). But the operational load is absurd and there is no QA. Unbelievable to me having come from retail. I also heard crunch surrounding re:invent is insane.

Thinking of switching to Google, but I was told I could get promoted at AWS quickly.

SDE II, TC 200, yoe 6.
I've always wanted to try working at Google.

    1. Wait for the promo in 2 years, or switch sooner?
    2. Do you get yearly cash bonuses at Google? If so, based on what, and how much?
    3. Are there any educational programs at Google like MLU at Amazon?
    4. Do you know if the Kirkland office is heavily dependant on MVT? Like, is it difficult being away from the mothership?

      2. Yes. And cash bonuses can be huge. There's a minimum bonus(as long as you not poorly performing) and then on top of that based on your performance you can get more.

      4. By MVT I think you meant MTV. Nope it's not difficult. Every office is independent in a certain way. Don't worry about offices. You can easily move after a year to any office. There's a shortage of people at every office in google.

OP, if there was Reddit gold here, I'd give it to you. The quality of your answers was TT for sure. I really appreciate the insight. I do think it would be a bit of a wasted opportunity to leave too soon given that I've always wanted to work on ML. Even if it costs me 50k for a year by means of opportunity cost, it's not the end of the world. Google will be there next year, too.

At Intel it was more low level embedded stuff. Mostly C/C++.

Sorry won't answer how long at G.
      Advice for L3 is :
      1. As soon as you join produce code
      2. Average 1 'M' CL per Day
      3. Make sure in your 1 on 1s you ask for advice.
      4. Travel in your first year to conferences
      5. As soon as possible, even for the slightly complex problems, write design docs for the solutions. Pass it around. People are amazing there
      6. Don't leave G for atleast 3 years. You'll come out as a different person.

Please let me know if I can help in any way.

Combining answer to PayPay and your question.

I will give you a single most important suggestion and then it's upto you to follow it. It will change your and many other's lives not just interviews.
After interviewing and clearing these interviews I have to admit one thing, you have to always remember that no matter how much you prepare or how smart you are, luck is a huge huge factor in everything in life.

So your job is to study or prepare upto what you can handle. Some people have solved 400+ leetcode questions and they still fail. Others have solved may be 50 and they still pass.

So, tldr, work and practice at your pace. Don't rush anything. Try not to get disheartened because of a bad result. Luck is a huge huge factor in life and in interviews.

FB does surprise you in terms of mini kitchens and weekend movie/food money.
But WLB plus nice people is the best at Google. Google is also good at making sure that you grow as you desire.
Work wise AWS is a great place to learn a lot in a short time. WLB is bad thought.

Long term money + WLB, Google beats all.

I love this question. Actually, I was thinking of how can someone validate without revealing a lot about themselves.
      Here goes:

Google: critique, velocity, go/whatever, interview questions: the good the banned and the ugly, OMG, memegen, Baadal cafe in cl4. Loved it "note" keeps internal name. Google3.

Intel: don't remember much. Ocean scripting(yes I did that at Intel). I'll try to recall.

AWS: Crux, chime(not sure if they still use it), broadcast, post review, hostclasses, pipelines, IAD(main center for AWS), GRU, pingpong for oncall. hire.

MSFT: don't remember much. Visual studio. C#. Sway. Note. I'll try to recall. Lynx

FB : Nuclide, phabricator, fbsource, hg, tasks, fbObjc, task level:UBN. LogDevice, bunnylol. Gate keeper.

The more I try to recall i feel like the more I forget. I'll keep updating as I keep recalling. As mentioned before terms at intel and MSFT were very short. But I'll try to recall once I am at home.
