My wife and I will be moving to WA and we are looking out for prospective options. We have no kids, her office will be in Redmond and mine will be In Bellevue. Anyone in same boat? Would like to weigh which apartments are preferred. Looking out for decent night life. I have heard Microsoft provides shuttle and transportation services. This would be important for us to decide the place. TIA. Customary TC info: 260k including both (initial offer. Negotiation going on) . Fresh out of college targeting for 340k (including both the tc)
I'd stay in Kirkland, the commute is slightly better to MS than Bellevue.
Thanks. Connectors and shuttles are easily available/accessible for both Bellevue and Studio D Redmond?
Redmond - > Indians Bellevue - > Asians Kirkland - > white people, specially seniors. There you have it
Yes , I am in same boat
98033 of course. Cycling distance to G in Kirkland, FB in Redmond and MS HQ. 10 mins to Bellevue downtown and 20-30 mins to Seattle. Costco, WholeFoods, TraderJoes, Nordstrom, etc. everything is within 10 mins.
Redmond. If you can afford Bellevue
Decent nightlife available only in Seattle. If you prefer shorter commute, choose Kirkland.
Thanks. I am looking out for shorter commute to both Bellevue and Studio D Redmond. Do you suggest Kirkland ? I assume commute time during working days will be 20 minutes or so ( from Bellevue to Redmond).
Check out South and North Rose Hill districts in Kirkland. Right between Kirkland, Redmond and Bellevue. Superb commute anywhere, even during rush hour.
OP, Microsoft shuttles go to other Microsoft buildings (they won’t drop you off at home) and you need to show your blue badge (employee) to get on and call one to pick you up. Commute will depend completely on when you leave :)
Thank you! How about connectors? Trying to decide a place nearby bus stop..
It's Connectors that require blue badge, anyone can use the Shuttle. Connector gets you to Overlake Transit Center (OTC) for easy main campus and shuttles, then they go over by the Studios. I've never worked Bellevue so I don't know if there's a Connector to there or if you have to shuttle from OTC. If that's the case then it would possibly be better to drive or take Transit.
I live in Redmond and walk to work everyday
Thank you. Would you mind sharing the apartment name?
I would recommend Kirkland as it's going to be the best option for both of you. Connectors are good but you might end up spending more time than simply driving. You may want to look at apartments in Clyde Hill/yarrow bay..
Seattle - Fremont, cap hill, or Ballard if no kids and want a social life
