Between all the AAA companies in gaming, which one has the best culture for/towards woman? I just want to be able to work and not face issues because of my gender.
Blizzard is great imo. Not a woman, but I know many who are happy. That said, pay is not great for everyone (below market).
My friend works at Blizzard and she's having a great time. However, she did mention that there aren't that many female leaderships which can be disheartening. I think it also depends on what team you join since it's so big. Best of luck!
EA is pretty solid! Lots of women in management and executive roles, and a large number of women in SWE roles! We also have a number of groups for honoring diversity and celebrating women in games.
Not a woman, but the last two projects I’ve been on have both had at least some high level female leadership, manager at previous studio was a woman. Workforce still skews heavily male, but definitely not exclusively so, and again from an outsider perspective, women on both those teams seemed to always get equal consideration in meetings and such. I’m sure things aren’t perfect, but they don’t seem like the garbage fire they’re made out to be by some journalists/bloggers either. Then again, I haven’t worked at Riot.
XBOX is taking this issue on, as part of Microsoft they can’t afford to drag their feet.
In SF WB Games. The pay is pretty low though.
