I am using Fidelity Managed portfolio service and the selectbthe funds to invest my 401k amd charge an annual fee of 3% irrespective of whether the portfolio grew or not. I thought they knew the right funds to invest in but for the past month they have been loosing in all the funds that they selected. I would like to get of their service and start selecting mynown investments. Which funds are the best to invest in. TC : peanuts
3% is a lot....as your money compounds, so does this fee. Look at how much money you will be loosing just because of these fees. And it's not like they can get you 15% return yoy.
Take a look at social investing too. Funds I suggest esgv, vsgx, susb, susc
3% is A HELL LOT
Low expense ratio S&P500 fund. Then leave it there. Almost nothing can beat that more than 2-3 straight years. In any given year it beats 70-80% of all mutual funds.
NASDAQ 100 has beat it for a decade now
Every 401K includes an analog of the S&P500. Nasdaq100 is rare inside a 401K and it craters during down markets.
I don’t really do stock picks, but if your looking for safety: SPY, KO, GS, SBUX, PG, and DIS. All great buys.
Fidelity has some pretty decent funds with good dividends like F BGRX F XAIX F BSOX F AGAX
There are zero fee index funds from fidelity too... FZROX is one example
Especially for 401k i recommend doing index funds. vanguard or fidelity both are good and expense ratio are around 0.05 . put your money there and forget about it. And as you grow older, the general recommendation is slowly move from stocks to bonds. They say your age as a percentage in bonds, but i usually do 10%.
Thanks a bunch for the advice. I am just a little concerned that they may be playing the two- sided market place game with peoples’ money. They can sign us up for their managed service and get a cut from us and choose to buy poor performing investment and get a cut from the issuers, especially if they are investing in stocks.
