which of these places is best to start career and reasoning for why. if you think 2 are the same vote twice
None of the above, start at a startup. Optimize for learning.
I don't really agree that the modal startup will teach you as much as working at Google or Facebook. And a new grad is probably not what a startup needs.
Correct they will teach you a lot more :). Startups absolutely hire new grads and you can race up the ladder quickly.
Maybe an underrated opinion, but I think Amazon is a great place to start and then leave after 2.5 years right after the first 20% stock vest happens. A strong SDE 1 becomes SDE2 by then. You'll learn a lot and with the knowledge I'd jump to G/FB or a 🦄 startup.
Hard to give an answer when we don’t know OPs career goals.
TwoSigma for sure. We have an amazing new grad program
Are you talking about NewTS or a different program ?
It's just a one month program where you do a throwaway project. Don't know what's so good about it
My career goal is to eventually start my own company. So right now I’m optimizing for building a network of potential investors / cofounders and also to build a nest egg/safety net

Avoid teams with only Chinese or Indians especially with a Chinese/Indian manager
Two Sigma is meaningfully different from the others in this list. It doesn't make sense to include it without also including other firms in Two Sigma's cohort (i.e. quant trading firms). Of the usual suspects in FAANG, I'd choose Google or Facebook because they have the strongest brand for jumping to better pastures after about 2 - 3 years. I wouldn't start out at a lesser known company like Stripe or Uber as a new grad, but those are good firms to join once you're senior and want compensation/responsibility increases faster than you would get at FAANG. Unless you land at an ultra selective firm that will make you wealthy early on, it's probably best to go to an established brand with excellent training mentoring out of school. Then a few years later you can jump to a reputable unicorn to get outsized influence and faster promotions.
