Thought it'd be fun to find out what everyone's experience has been like...

Most of my work history has dealt with merchandising. The best part has been sampling and finding great products, and of course the discounts (sometimes up to 40%--even on top of sale prices). The worst: Dealing with terrible vendors.

Best: Though you work in product company, there is always a vast landscape of verticals and product hierarchy you can look out for change within. Experience you get about the scale, which is always huge, growing and evolving as customer base increases year over year...
Worst: Thanksgiving, Year End sucks if you are working on critical components. But yet I would say if company has good WLB then there you find always a platoons of workforce to deal with such situations and you are not alone if you are in/above mid size company...

Best: having an excuse to not have to travel during the most expensive and stressful time of the year and pretend to care about old timey traditions instead of just having relaxing travel and spending time with people.
