I'm a new grad about to sign the offered TC, waiting for the paperwork, what would be a good car that saves money and also is cool enough, if that makes any sense.

    A used Toyota Corolla under $10k is all you can realistically afford with that TC

    Get a used bmw i3. Easy to park, fun to drive, and is “cool enough” if the boxy style speaks to you. You can find good ones for 15k.

      This is garbage advice that combines two separate pieces of garbage advice:
      1. Buy a used EV;
      2. Buy a used BMW.

      Well I personally want to get a Chevy Camero but not sure if it'll be the right decision, some with experience can provide insights about things I might not have thought about

      Nobody here has enough information to help you make an informed decision on what is the best move for you to make. Same with financial, medical, or legal advice on Blind.

    A very used honda for 5k or under. If going to use for networking a 911 will be the cheapest entry point.

    It is very interesting to see people post TC and ask for an opinion on car purchase. The TC may or may not be relevant to the car you drive. I have seen millionaire employees drive Subaru or Toyota. I have seen young employees (with entry TC) drive German luxuries.
    Just test drive a group of cars. Pick the one you really like. Most of the cars in a given class are pretty competitive. You never know what you will get without test-driving it.

      In the US, the concept of car brand loyalty is weak. You might drive a Japanese car, switch to an American, and then settle on German vice versa.

  • The new RAV4s are stylish yet can handle the vagaries of Bay Area driving warfare. If you go BMW, lease. You don't want to own those POSes after three years of life.

    Camry hybrid is a good car. No point spending money on high end German cars.
