Best career hack for White/Asian folks

Big tech companies recently introduced policies which openly discriminate white (and often Asian and Indian) males.

That means if you represent one of those groups you will have harder time getting interviews or getting promoted.

Some of the examples at Microsoft is so called mandatory wait period meaning even if you passed all the interviews with flying colors you will have to wait a few weeks before they extend you an offer in hopes there will be another qualified employee from underrepresented groups... in which case another candidate will be hired instead of you.

Another example recruiters at Google are explicitly asked to consider only minority candidates for certain positions.

Similar rules apply to promotions.

This is obviously explicit discrimination based on gender/race and there are pending lawsuits, however since this is the current environment here's an easy way how to benefit from it as well:

When filling out the form about your ethnicity pick:

- Hispanic, if you are white (background story your mom is Argentinian)
- Also hispanic, if you are Asian (backround story your mom was Peruvian)
- Black or Hispanic if you are Indian (it doesn't matter really)

Voila! You are member of a protected group now and thus significantly increased your career perspectives.

If you feel like this is somehow not ethical and you are lying just go to ancestrydna.com , do the test and I can guarantee you will see some of the genes from Hispanic/African countries :)

Bonus points if you also declare to be gay.

Best of luck!

Also, no African genes in Asians. Makes sense that whites are closer to them, white people are bafflingly uncivilized and brutish next to us gooks. I do have 0.1% native "American" though. I'll take it

I guess simpler solution is NOT to identify your gender and race.. And yes I have heard first hand from a director level guy in Microsoft that in his team promotion list he was forced to comply to certain gender/race ratios and hence was not able to promote some white/Asian men through pure meritocracy.. Reverse discrimination is real and sucks...

There is no such thing. There is simply discrimination. It drives me nuts - somehow you don’t see that you saying that your racism is somehow better and more authentic than other racism? The “original racism”. Do you get how sad it is that you are demonstrating your sense of racial superiority even as you bitch and whine about being discriminated against?

You are not required to provide race but companies are required to report it so in such case they will perform "visual identification". Besides if you dont provide that you are protected group you miss on all the upside.

I am 90% East Asian and 10% awesome, so I don’t think I’ll ever be treated in a favorite way, at least not without hard earned respect.

But jokes aside, food for thoughts:

Whichever way you put people into groups there ought to be people calling it racism/discrimination. Race is just one attribute that’s easy to identify for classification purpose. Yes, it’s generalized, but less subjective on a case by case consideration.
