Which company is striving hard in this age of ML/AI apps to do awesome things in the kernel(including hypervisor) [operating systems) PS- Please add comments supporting your votes.
Sysdig... Our kernel module is what makes us competitive, founded by the guy who built wireshark.
NVIDIA should probably also be on this list, they are doing a lot with APIs and such to help process AI/machine learning
networking and storage companies do work in kernel as well
they are more real time and bare metal than the typical definition of kernel. very soon storage will all be user plane to avoid task switch latency.
Microsoft is adding small features to their kernel and there is very interesting related work all over there. Google poached nearly the entire Midori team from Microsoft (google it) and is doing interesting research work at that level. Also interesting hypervisor work at Google/Amazon related to cloud.
Ugh so that's why nothing came of Midori
Midori was cancelled and the team scattered around MSFT, then got poached away to Google

I know someone who work in google linux kernel team. She had lot of praises for her team.
Are you sure you are talking about the same "kernel"? Or am I really misunderstand the context..
what else could kernel/hypervisor mean? Did you think he meant svm kernel?
