Qualtrics is meh, but I need to stay in Utah for personal reasons. Looking for hot takes on start ups in the area from an engineering perspective. I have heard WeWork is building offices in SLC and Lehi, but that company is sort of risky, right? Mostly what I care about is TC and promo, and preferably not horrible wlb. Any hope or is Qualtrics as good as it gets? I am praying the UT market one day catches up to SV but it seems more and more unlikely. TC 97k, YOE 2
Domo? Adobe?
Plaid seems the most promising, wonder what the SLC office is like compared to SF. Domo is sort of ... dumpster fire-y from what I hear. Sort of hiring freeze going on, or at least a slow down. Adobe is probably good, there’s a few ex-Adobites who joined Qualtrics a few years ago.
Cause Domo’s stock is going nowhere?
I guess so. I’m sure the company is going to be fine in the long run but it’s days of rapid stock/valuation growth are pretty much over. Plus I am pretty sure they pay the same or worse than where I’m at, so not really worth switching for.
Plaid, Instructure, Adobe, Snapchat (bad, but pays ok).
What department? Guessing Eng but don’t want to assume.
Should have clarified, indeed it’s Eng
WeWork in Lehi and SLC is hiring a lot. PM me if you want to hear more.
More solid tech companies: Qualtrics, Domo, Vivint Smart Home, Pluralsight, Adobe, Instructure Smaller (series B and later), but promising: Lucid, Divvy, Podium, Workfront, Canopy, BambooHR, Hirevue
I would love to move to Utah. But look at the companies listed in this thread. By comparison to Silicon Valley, the place is inconsequential. There are just so many more significantly better options in SV than UT that UT doesn't seem like a viable option to consider. I don't know why that should be true, but it clearly is.
This is mostly true today but I’m hopeful that it won’t be true in the next 5-10 years. I doubt that Google or FB would ever build an eng office here, but there are a few less prestigious SV companies with satellites here (wework, Adobe, plaid). But you’re right, I wish there were more!
yeah but you can get a home for less than half a million
Plaid, twitch(not a startup still), lucid charts
