Looking at moving to amazon SDE 2 level with 5.25 years exp in Azure / SaaS (Microsoft dynamics) What team would be a good fit?

I would escape amazon right now, they’re having a lot of hiring freezes and Pips due to overhiring past 4 years, they don’t want to call it a layoff bc “amazon doesn’t have lay offs” so they’re pipping people out, coming in as an L5 with lots of experience is a bad place to be, you’ll think your top of L5 band, but in fact you’re first in line for a pip due to people on the team with less experience knowing the product more
This is what realistic ground scenario is. Take it blindly my friend. I am in the same boat, I am an experienced SDE with 10yrs experience. I always think I am out performing team, but I am the only one on dev list inspite of deliveries and knowledgeable. They want junior devs who can screw up the product and have no think big attitude.
Wow, that is exactly me. Over 20 years of experience, hired one year ago, told I was at the top of the SDE 2 band, then unofficially placed on dev plan by my manager (who left). Now my skip is telling me to prepare for pivot, and not to take the PIP because I won’t pass it (not maybe, but won’t — as in WILL NOT). I’ve written software to manage $35bil of capital, in multiple currencies and accurate to 6 decimal places. Yet I suck at Amazon because I can’t get an external team to sign off on my devo tests because they’re on a different timeline than us.
