I'm planning to apply to Microsoft. Should I find a recruiter on LinkedIn or should I just apply directly to the position on their website? Which would be better?
Find someone from Microsoft on LinkedIn and ask whether they can help you. If your profile is solid on LinkedIn, recruiters will be open to talking to you, even without referral.
They do? I got referrals, got my resume reviewed my people in Microsoft, and my LinkedIn is very much updated. Never got a call.
They do. Sometimes it's luck. There is a difference between an updated LinkedIn profile and a solid profile. Try benchmarking your experiences against others in similar positions and career stage. List your impacts rather than your tasks. I'm assuming you haven't done these . But if you done all this and still didn't get a call then I'd chalk it up to bad luck.
I got an interview meeting the hiring manager on a ML event. He bypassed some recruiter’s rules to put me in the loop. Sadly, even though I made it through the 5 interviews, they picked someone else. So sending your CV to a recruiter is unlikely to work in my xp. Also.. try to publish your best at github, if you gets stars and collaborators better.
Check your LinkedIn inbox.. if they like you they probably already reached out to you.. if not, focus on work and do something that looks interesting so that recruiters from well known companies reach out to you often
They never reply for online applications, in my opinion (I might be wrong though). Try to connect with a recruiter or get a referral from blind. I am sure, someone will be willing to help.
Thanks, already tried asking for referral but I think my post was flagged immediately after posting. I'll look for recruiter, thanks for the tip.
