How can I get an interview at FAANG, Uber, LinkedIn etc. if I work at a non tech company as a software engineer?
Careers website
Apply. I got interviews at FB and MSFT just by applying. Amazon spams me on LinkedIn weekly so you don't even need to apply to get an interview there.
You're in FANG, the banker guy is not.
I wasn't when I got the interviews
Hit up recruiters on LinkedIn. Sign up for the premium service. Ask your buds working at those companies to give you an internal referral.
I would suggest trying to get a job at a tech startup before you try to shoot for the big leagues. I did and I learned a hell of a lot that way.
I used to get recruiters from Amazon, LinkedIn, and Facebook contacting me regularly after I'd been at a Series A company for a few months.
I tried applying directly to Google through their careers page twice and was ignored twice. Third time I hit up a Google recruiter I had added on LinkedIn (they added me before they moved to Google, so not technically "cold" contact) and got an immediate response. By that point I had visible distributed systems experience, which might have helped.
