Better brand on your cv - Netflix vs Amazon

Which company would you prefer for culture, career mobility and growth, international outlook and role rotation, diversity, total comp, stability and brand value? I’m evaluating a comparable role at Netflix (been with Amazon for 2 years in Asia). Ultimately want a foreign gig and Amazon is great with role rotation and foreign transfers. Also bit concerned about Netflix sports team culture - I value stability. Not happy with my current team at Amazon though and manager won’t support a transfer for min 6 months. Not growing here in immediate future career wise. Help me choose what path to pursue

Odd - AFAIK (engineering in US) policy is Amazon would rather have you in the company than out of it. Have you brought this up with your skip? People leaving for another company because a manager wasn’t supportive of a team transfer should be a big black eye for any manager

Officially supportive. But unofficially don’t trust him to give good feedback now. He’s dependent on me for 5-6 months min as there is no back up. And is vindictive enough to put me and keep me on dev list if I try to leave. Manager is L8. I don’t think our L6 HRBP has enough backbone to help me on this

Do you have a Netflix offer in hand?

Expecting one and evaluating

When you get it, might not hurt to use it as leverage with your boss. Either for 6months of relaxation in exchange for you staying and helping, or for immediate transfer support. “Or else I’ll walk and make sure everyone knows why”

If you get an offer from Netflix, you won't really ask this question.

Really why? It’s not that simple a decision.

At Netflix you're treated like an adult. You're going to get an all cash offer for what you're worth. On top of that you'll get 5% in options, and the choice to dedicate 0% - 100% of your salary towards options. You know what's best for you. If you're at Netflix for any decent amount of time, it's also a huge booster for your CV. And no six-pager needed to work on things. ;)
