Both Uber and Airbnb pay high Tc, provide free meals and great benefits, have high hiring bars, them why aren’t they on par with FG.

Uber was just paper money until recently. Airbnb still is. A lot of people prefer real money.

In reality they’re probably just as good jobs if not better because you can have more impact and move up faster potentially. But the reason they’re not as prestigious is because they’re not as well known companies. Everyone knows and uses Google and Facebook across the world. The same can’t be said of Airbnb and Uber.

Is that really true for Uber? Outside of maybe remote ass parts or the middle east or something it’s hard to believe a generally internet-aware population doesn’t know about Uber. I recently met two guys from the opposite ends of Africa who knew what Uber was.

Still. Most people use Google and/or Facebook many times per day and Uber twice a day max.

Yeah it’s global but idk how much business they actually do outside of NA. I’ve been to the Philippines and Thailand and they didn’t have uber. They had a clone called Grab. In Brazil they have Uber but everyone says to avoid it because it isn’t safe there and to use a taxi instead. So it’s not big in the 3 countries I’ve been to outside of North America but of course that’s a small sample size.

Oh for sure I’m well aware Uber doesn’t have the kind of global coverage they like to tout sometimes. But as a brand even in countries where another rideshare takes hold, they’re gonna know “Uber wasn’t able to make it work here.”

Maybe losing money might be part of it. Or the fact your entire business goes up in smoke from 1 court decision.
