Currently getting atarted as an on campus hire in financial risk consulting with KPMG. While I plan to value my time here and make the most of it, MBB is my goal down the road. Is there a reasonable chance of exiting to MBB after say several years, or would it require an MBA degree at a top program to end up at one of the MBB firms? appreciate any responses

Big 4 is dogshit, you would need a top MBA program to transfer in

@deloitte Even S&O or S&A whatever they rebranded it to can’t compete upstream with MBB with the big pipeline strategy contracts. Unless things changed dramatically since I’ve hopped off into industry, Big 4 will always be in the middle of the road.

I’m not disagreeing, just thought the way you phrased it was funny.

I will say that with my experience with Monitor, that we regularly compete with MBB in some very specific areas, and win fairly regularly.

That said I don’t think any B4, Deloitte included, would ever catch MBB in pure strat.

afc is correct and gave you a straight forward answer. What does any of this have to do with empathy?

Well, a good idea for you would be to transition to a strategy team at big 4. The more recognizable ones are Strategy& PwC and Deloitte Strategy. From there, it is pretty common to make a jump to MBB without an MBA.

For the most part this is almost harder than moving to a different firm's strategy team from what I've gathered from poets&quant

^That's what I've seen and what I've heard as well. If it wasn't improbable to do so, everyone would use advisory as a stepping stone to get to consulting. Not good for morale. They want to hire people who want to be on that team, not people looking for a pump and dump.

Possible but difficult without MBA if you're not already in strat/ops. Big 4 audit -> top 10 MBA -> MBB is very common path though
