What do you think of block chain? The technology used in block chain are the technology already exists for so many yrs, why do people think they are new tech? Is that necessary to use block chain ever where? Does our banking system really need block chain? I think ICO is one of reasons why block chain is so popular...
When you say “technology used in blockchain”, what are you specifically referring to? The markov chain in the so called blockchain had existed for some time, but the consensus algorithm is new. The blockchain mania is likely to spark more innovations in distributed computing.
Byzantine consensus algorithm has been worked upon since 1982 as per Wikipedia and this is one of the consensus algorithm being used in blockchain afaik. What consensus algorithm are you referring to which are new?
XLM has a different consensus algo that solves the Byzantine problem.
