I recently get arrested but released the second day. The case is dropped, so no court no conviction. But I’ll switch my job to Bloomberg and soon they’ll likely conduct background check. Wondering how strict BB background check will be? Anyone with similar experience but pass the check at BB? Thx
As long as u r clean u r fine
I’m telling Michael B. Your career is over!
I'm sorry to say that, but my background check at BB was much stricter than any other I have ever experienced. It may cause some additional steps but I don't think you could fail it because of this
Thx! May I ask what additional steps? If it’s not okay to post can I PM you?
I don't know, because I've never been arrested and there were no additional steps in my case. But they were very serious about obtaining all possible criminal checks in my home country, I had to fill 4 different permissions to access my criminal records and so on. Feel free to PM me, but I don't think I can help you much
Pretty straightforward. They Verify your previous employment. No drug testing is involved. An arrest and dismissal wouldn’t likely show up on background.
If you are concerned consul with a private investigator. See what they can dig up on you.
Thx! But I guess BB will still definitely check all criminal records, and will see this arrest record, right? So you mean BB won’t reject me because there’s no case or conviction, right?
Don’t worry. Let it take its course. What’s the worse can happen, you wont work at BB, big deal ?!
The worst thing that is almost guaranteed to happen is they will give you a compliance form that will ask something like: “Were you ever charged with a crime?” Sometimes even with extra sentence “even if you think it was expunged”. Key here is not to lie. If you say you weren’t and fingerprints show otherwise, they are likely to fire you. It may be embarrassing but they cannot let you go because of arrest or charge history unless you were convicted. Some exceptions may apply on cases where people get their cases dismissed through pretrial diversions while admitting guilt. Doesn’t sound like you should have much to worry here.
Thx but for the question “were u ever charged with a crime?” I guess I should answer no? Because my case was dropped and I didn’t go to court or see judge. But if asked “were u arrested in jail?” Yes I need to answer yes
If you were just arrested or detained and cops did not charge you with any statute then you are all set
It depends on what you mean dropped. Did you go to court? If the court took up the car, it most definitely was not dropped. You were definitely charged but the case was dismissed for whatever. Usually it means the judge didn't think their was enough evidence. It also happens when you get multiple charges. There needs to be more details so consult an attorney.
Hi No I didnt go to court. And I got no notice of court for future. And I got no other charges. Also what do you mean by court took up the car? Thx
Court took up the charge. Cops report the crime, DA charges you, then you go to court. It can stop at any point.
Just order fingerprint fbi check, it will reveal if any charges were filed or just arrest. Speaking of which, did they fingerprint you?
Hey, Did you pass the backgroud check?
What were you arrested for?
Doesn't matter if they dismissed the case. Most backgrounds only cover "convictions". If a background covers "arrests" then the employer is required several extra steps of investigation in order to not be liable. I had a permanent restraining order against my ex. She called me suicidal and I showed up a d talked her down and the police took her to a mental health facility. The officer read the PRO wrong and cuffed me and took me to their jail. 5 hours later they released me and apologized. That shows as a "domestic violence-restraining order violation" and "charges dismissed".
Thx! Actually I even don’t see the court, and nothing happened, and I got no paperwork. So in future what paperwork I should show if employer asked about the arrest?
