Bored of stitching readymade solutions to make something cool. Anything else than this in market?

Let me know what jobs are in the market where the most part of your work is not integrating already built things to make new things, instead there is development of a new thing from scratch. Ex: Implementation of c++ library, or writing a database as a service. I am sick of writing rest apis, changing few lines to change the UI, adding a fuck all feature to a website. I am at Microsoft currently and would like to explore options both internally and externally.

Have you considered getting a PhD in computer science?

Low pay while you’re doing it but it meets your requirements.

I did. Figured out it was not financially viable for me.

The best I’ve seen in industry is at small, early startups, especially ones led by former researchers. The pay likely won’t be as good as Microsoft, Amazon or Google though either

What about .net or c++ teams in msft?

Don’t know any. The team I know that sounds like it most fits your description is VS Code. But they work with Typescript mostly and also I’d guess it’s very competitive to get a spot on that team

Stop it. Out of 100 AWS teams in Amazon 5 would be doing some good stuff. Been at Amazon, and hate the AWS oncalls.

Look into virtual/augmented reality startups or join Microsoft hololens team.

Oddly I find that there’s still plenty of room to innovate with even simple crud apps. There’s a million todo list tutorials out there but from a commercial perspective no company has really made a definitive todo list app. They’re all failures. That’s a hard problem to solve IMHO.
