I’m currently in advertsing sales and Im looking to break into the tech sales industry. I’m an Account Execitive handing a full sales cycle selling across digital and print medium. I’m about 14 months out of college and 12 into my first “real job” and know I can make much more money in tech for the same amount of work, plus it is something in more intrested in. I have applied a few places but wanted to get some advice before I sent out a load of applications to my top companies then realize I could have done something better. I have a few questions and hoping you guys can provide some unique insights about how i should navigate this transition: Should I be applying for closing roles, since i currently am in one, or would I have to “restart” my career in a BDR or SDR position? I’m confident i can perform in a closing role once I go through training and gain product knowledge. What are the opinions on larger tech companies vs start ups (med/lrg)? I know the general list of pros and cons but I’m hoping this community can offer a more indepth and unique perspetive. Any other general advice is welcomed. Also, I’m currently based is LA but not opposed to relocating if it were the right fit. Any reccomendations on companies I should look into would be greatly appreciated! TC 75k
