I have an upcoming on-site SWE interview at Facebook. From a purely technical standpoint, I think exposure to their challenges will be neat and will benefit my career growth, but I do have concerns about their privacy issues that have been in the news and want to hear what their internal take on it was. Is it prudent to ask about it during the interview, and if so, what's the best way to bring it up?
What do you think the answer to your questions will be? Honestly think about it from their shoes. They are working there despite the bullshit. They are thoroughly hooked on the koolaid
Sure.
I have no doubt Zuckerberg’s personal focus group team has selected the perfect string of words for him to tell staff internally and they have committed those words into their own repertoire like faithful Stepford employees. (People at Amazon lap up Bezos’ principles like a Bible as well, this is just how it is.)
I asked my lunch faux-interviewer. He was really blunt (which was nice) and said he didn’t care and would just go get a new job if it ever ended up tanking the stock. Still not sure if it was wise to ask - it’s a question that can’t help you but it could hurt
Yes, just ask. The lunch “interview” is a great time to do this.
It’s a tough one, this question will probably not negatively effect your interview but it could. It could also benefit you since the interviewer will see you aren’t afraid to ask hard questions - I know I would respect someone a bit more for that. Gauge your interviewer before asking for sure.
