Broke Up with GF of 8 years
Feelings lots of pain. Really drunk af. But I got an offer at MSFT. Got some other onsites in the woks... Any advice? I’m in a shit load of pain. Looking for some advice. Going karaoke with some friends. Anyone else survive something maybe as painful or worse? What kind of strats u got??

Agreed. It gets way worse before it gets better. My girlfriend, whom I adored, dumped me a year ago. The first few days, I happily played videogames, but then the reality sunk in. Cried my eyes out, negotiated the hell out of her, became a doormat. Only recently stopped bothering and trying to prove I am a worthy person. It will still take some time for me. Don't be me.
Man, that’s rough. Sometimes even when we offer our heart and love on a platter its not enough for some people. I’m not blaming the girl, she might have reasons of her own. Failure of relationships are impossible to diagnose. Everyone has the side of their story in which they are the victim. In my failures what I’ve learned is that I need to be a complete person in order to have a relationship with another person. So I’m taking the time to learn, contemplate and fix the problems that is within me. So the next time around I won’t be making the same mistakes.

Been through this, and still working on it. Hit the gym. It never hurts, and physical activity helps a lot.

Your life will be hell for at least 3-4 months. Nothing you can do about it. If you take a knife and scratch your arm, does it heal overnight? After 3-4 months it will be better. I know you don't believe it now, but just take my word. After couple of years, when you look back, you might even laugh at your reaction now.
This. Went through a breakup this January. Life was hell for 5-6 months. But then I decided that I'm responsible for my happiness. Then it just became much better. Now I look back and wonder what the hell was wrong with me.

So OP you’re 26 and relationship lasted 8 years. So basically it’s your first real relationship (starting from 18). That sucks and it hurts bad. Honestly, relationships hurt most when you’re younger *and* is O(n^2) for pain where n is the duration of the relationship.
Sorry for you bro. The question you need to ask yourself is why did it take 8 years to discover whatever it was that caused the break up. Next time fail fast and don’t let a relationship continue for 8 whole years if it doesn’t have a future.
