Hi everyone, I am joining Microsoft soon and moving from Austin, Texas. I have a family here and plan to either buy a CPO Honda civic in Austin or do it in Seattle. What will be the relocation bonus/facilities at Microsoft. What will save me money. I am planning to get it financed in both cases. Thanks!
Cars esp like Honda civics don’t fluctuate in price much as you change location within the country. The only real difference you’ll see is sales tax and conditionof the cars. Cars from the south are generally going to be in better condition with less rust than those up north. Paying for car transport to Seattle won’t be cheap; honestly it’s probably a coin flip and I’d just buy in Seattle because it’s probably a bit less hassle although you do have a gun to your head once you get there so you better be fine deciding with limited options
I’d wait to see where you live. There’s a lot of commuting options with shuttles, bike trails, and what not. You might not need one.
Buy my Texas car :D just moved to Seattle
Start without a car here then decide if you need one Such a Texas mindset to assume you need a car here
Why moving to Seattle, it is very costly. I hope your offer has real good bump. And how long before you start hating weather? Coming from Austin you gonna start missing sun!!!
If you bring a new car to Seattle that you recently purchased out of state, you will owe ~11% Use-Tax before you can register it, but if you buy in-state you I only have to pay sales tax, which ranges from 6-11% (Spokane among cheapest).

Buying a new car and moving to Texas doesn't save you the sales tax. They'll charge you when you register the car.
