Buying condo in SLU vs buying house further away from SLU in seattle
Working in SLU amazon office. Tc - 145k. Been paying 1300$ as rent sharing a double bedroom apartment in SLU. Thinking to buy my own condo or house since paying rent seems like just throwing away money. Cant share flat after marriage anyways. Rent is pretty high in SLU area or even close areas , 2200$ for 1bhk , 2600$ for 2 bhk. Can pay upto 2200$ as monthly payments. Should i buy condo in slu or move out of city and buy a house instead for the same range ? Plus i am on H1B so a bit scared of denied extension any year. Any ideas\ideas most welcome. SLU is south lake union area where all/most IT companies are. Will be single person earning.
Why can you not share a flat after marriage? Don't buy a condo. Don't buy in slu. What's a "bkh"?

Privacy. Apartments are really congested in SLU or close areas. Bhk is bedroom , hall , kitchen
Bhk- bed hall kitchen. 1bhk is 1 bedroom hall and kitchen. 2bhk is 2bedroom, 1 hall and 1 kitchen.
Stay in Freemont. It's a 20 min bike ride / bus ride, cheaper rent and good restaurants and bars

That is the thing. Being on h1b i dont really get to choose as an extension can be denied anytime for whatever fucked up reason. But in an ideal world , i like seattle and would like to live for another 5-6 years
I donât know anything about the H1B process, but if I wasnât sure about my work situation I would rent.

Most/all tech companies are in SLU? That's new. You won't be able to get a decent house with a $2200 mortgage payment within an hour of work.

Condo wonât give you much appreciation. House would. Condo is also harder to rent out to get you breakdeven so if you leave in a year because of H1B, you are screwed with condo.
Why is it harder to rent in your opinion ? I thought there were always new people coming in and they would need a place to rent
