Buying home in Fremont, but what if I get a job in SF?

as title. The home is just across the bridge to FB. But I am in the interview process with Airbnb and Uber in downtown SF. If I don’t decide on the home in the next few days, it may be sold. It is a hot home.

Yes, buy and rent it out if job moves to SF.

Buying to rent makes absolutely no sense with home prices right now

Better than all other options. Ymmv.

The commute is horrible. Don’t do it.

BART

Then you commute. Try commuting from Walnut Creek to Palo Alto on public transportation. Fremont to the City? Piece of Cake!

SAP RrWs73 Sep 28, 2019

Walnut Creek is easy. Try Tracy to Palo Alto

Try Sacramento.

First decide on the job, wait it out on the home.

Job is a job man ... Home is special

Commute time has been found to have a direct impact on your happiness, no surprises there. Buying a home is a big deal, don’t you think it’s better to figure out the commute first given that OP will know in a few days.

Why not buy eastBay?

If you get a job at Uber then, Uber everyday. If you decide to go to Airbnb, rent out your home in Airbnb and stay in a Airbnb during weeknights. If you're single then don't buy home and live in SF.

In case you have some time to make the decision, try working from Facebooks office in SF for two weeks straight. Count the hours it takes for you to commute. Note your comfort level. Note the restrictions you need to deal with. Try finding time for gym, kids, friends and family. Try finding a few extra hours for work (to simulate crunch time). Do you help out with kids in the mornings? If so, see how that part is affected.
