I'm working in EDA domain and looking for other opportunities outside EDA. What kind of profiles in software look for C++ skills?
I have no idea on SQL, website or Android apps. Can you suggest some profiles and companies?

You don’t have to stay c++. Also people prize c++ skills because understanding memory and pointers is rare these days

Senior "C++" engineers in NVIDIA don't know C++. They know a small subset, mostly C-like and force everybody else to program only the way they can understand, instead of learning the language. Huge OOP God classes and long functions are encouraged. They don't know any design techniques besides OOP (which contemporary programmers admit sucks), and even that they don't know how to do right. The level of ignorance is staggering. It took me four years to explain and convince to use interface segregation. Another time a senior dude was trying to convince everyone we don't need encapsulation. Senior engineers stuck 20 years in the past, don't want to learn anything new and force everybody else to be at their level. I call it "confrontational ignorance".

Yeah I have experienced this stuff myself, it is nearly impossible to teach an old dog new tricks. I ended up leaving that place for good.

The ignorance actually doesn't depend on age. Though the old guys do enforce it. And the problem is that everyone believes he is an effing C++ God and expert, therefore it's impossible to explain anything or convince them in anything.

High frequency trading typically runs on C++. Network programming.. kernel bypass.. if you can do in C++, you will be in demand. Bloomberg and Citadel are two companies have lot of C++.
