Does anyone know if the California WARN act requires >50 employees that are part of a RIF to all be in California? In other words, what if 30 are in say New York, and 20 are in California? I'm asking because my annual RSU's vest in June and I have information that says there may be a RIF June 1 but most of the team is not in California -- whereas I am. So I'm counting on WARN. The answer to this dictates how hard I fight to find a more secure home. Thanks for any advice.
State law generally doesn’t apply out of state. So, probably not. But, you should talk to an employment lawyer, if you want to know for sure.
If they are closing your office then yes. If not and it's less than 50 people then it's not likely
