I’m a CS new grad with 3 YOE - I intended to apply to Google in some months to prepare myself. However, a Google Sourcer got in touch with me over LinkedIn about a SRE role. I already submitted my self-evaluation form, updated resume and scheduled a call. What should I expect from it? Usual HR + CS trivia? A coding assignment being handed after?

Yeah, there are two paths to go by in Google SRE - Systems Engineer or Software Engineer. All things being equal it's probably best to go SWE route as that gives you the flexibility to transfer to straight SWE later without reinterviewing, though the bar for the coding interviews is slightly higher. The actual work is the same regardless of which one you are classified as. After sourcer and I determined this was the path more appropriate for me, I got some CS 101 questions from them which were easy, then they scheduled a phone interview with an engineer.
That’s what I expect. Actually, my plan was to apply for a SWE position before being contacted. I don’t have any experience doing “grunt” Linux sys admin work, but done some system design work lately.
